After decades of visiting, lodging and camping in Morro Bay, there's not much more to add beyond compiling new 'photo travelogues' of the area. This time out we camped at Morro Strand State Beach - a spot we've stayed at before but probably via a touch and go while in-transit to someplace else. Last week we stayed for three nights and fully experienced this diverse and remarkable beach.
Along with traveling companions, Carol's neice Terri and her partner Vance, we enjoyed glorious weather beachcombing along the three mile stretch of sand that included wetlands, small dunes, numerous species of shore birds and plenty of capable and entertaining surfers. Map-wise, base camp was situated pretty much right between Morro Bay to the south and the quaint city of Cayucos to the north. 30 minutes to the east is the wine country of Paso Robles and just north of Cayucos is the irrepressible and eclectic town of Cambria. No doubt, Morro Strand is a bonus-bingo gateway to nearby fun and interesting towns!
