Camping sites: Pinnacles National Park, Jalama Beach, Morro Strand State Beach - May, 2023
Jalama Beach in Santa Barbara County, CA was our primary destination of the trip. Carol and I had camped there some 37 years ago for one night and we both had few memories of the place. The beach is isolated, starkley dramatic and windy due to it's proximity to Point Conception - considered to be a natural division between Southern and Central California. The unique rock formations scattered along the beach are abstract, photographic gems and the location is also a well known surfing destination. Over the Memorial Day weekend they were out in numbers, although not sure how stoked they were over the waves. In route we spent the first night at the prestine Pinnacles National Park, followed by 4 nights at Jalama Beach - note: too long. Heading back North on hwy 101, a night at Morro Strand State Park (a longtime, fav California coast camping staple) rounded out the run.
In attendance: Carol, Mark, Terri, Ted, Joan, Mike and Katie
