...and when I say 'to and back' from Orange County, probably a better descriptor would be 'back to back'. A few weeks ago circumstances surrounding my Dad and step-mom dictated Carol and I drive down to Southern California. After a stressfull and demanding week of non-stop tasks, medical appointments, care-related red tape, etc. we declared the sojurn a productive success. Thank you adrenaline! An overnighter at our long time decompression chamber, Morro Bay was the only agenda item for the next day. Driving home to Santa Rosa in the morning we were refreshed and in good spirits...however it would be short lived. An hour from our front door (crossing the San Rafael Bridge) we received the news of my stepmother's passing. We'd be driving back to Orange County the following morning.
The second week was more stressful than the first. Long story short, we survived it, were glad we could do it and in the end felt a strong measure of satisfaction that things are firmly in place for my dad. Deja'vu was running high as we pulled into Morro Bay for the second time in two weeks. The serenity of the place never dissapoints...even after 40 plus years of repeat visits.
There wasn't much time for shooting but I did squeeze in a few snaps for this travelogue post since my compact camera is pretty much a permanent fashion accessory these days. Believe me, through it all some occassional 'looking and seeing' was a welcomed respite.
